AB Klaipėdos energija produces and sells:
- Thermal energy for room heating and hot water preparation to residents and companies;
- Steam for technology to industrial companies.
Buys:
- Heat from independent heat producers (Pramonės energija, UAB, Gren Lietuva, UAB, Klaipėdos baldai, AB, Klaipėdos mediena, UAB, Miesto energija, UAB).
Maintains and repairs:
- Heating and hot water systems of residential homes, companies, organizations and social purpose buildings.
Energy production
AB Klaipėdos energija is the main supplier of thermal energy in Klaipėda. The company supplies heat to hospitals, schools, kindergartens, 16 industrial companies, 58 budgetary and state organizations, 1747 business and public institutions, more than 70 thousand household users.
In Klaipėda, 10 water heating and 6 steam boilers are installed in the big boiler plants of AB Klaipėdos energija (Electric Power Plant, Klaipėda District Boiler Plant, Lypkiai District Boiler Plant). The total used thermal power is 648 MW.
AB Klaipėdos energija operates 16 small boiler plants. In these boiler plants 30 water heating boilers are installed. The total used thermal power is 2.3 MW.
AB Klaipėdos energija is also active in Gargždai. There are 14 water heating boilers installed in this city’s boiler plants. The total used thermal power is 54.7 MW.
For heating water (for heating and hot water production) and steam production in the boilers, water from the city waterworks and the Danė River is used, which is supplied to the boilers after chemical treatment.
The water heated in the boilers is supplied by pumps to the city’s heating water supply networks. The temperature of the supplied heating water is determined according to the approved temperature graph, which is made after evaluating the outdoor air temperature and wind speed. In the consumer units, the cooled heating water enters the heating water return networks and is fed back to the boilers, so the process takes place in a closed cycle.
In steam boilers, water turns into steam of the required pressure and temperature and is supplied to city users. The condensate formed in the steam pipes is returned to the boiler room.
The main fuel for the company’s boilers are biofuel, natural gas, and fuel oil as a reserve.
Biofuel is purchased only at the Baltpool energy resource exchange and is delivered to the boiler plants by road transport.
Natural gas is supplied from the city’s trunk and distribution networks and enters the company’s gas regulation points.
Fuel oil is supplied by railway tanks and stored in 6 tanks in the Klaipėda district boiler plant.
